Athens High School has been part of a National Science Foundation grant with the Ohio University College of Engineering the past three years. The project, called BooKS (Boat of Knowledge in Science classrooms) brings graduate fellows from OU into the classroom to present on their research relative to the classroom or other topics assigned by the cooperating teacher. The project also allows high school students to take trips twice a year on a real boat to monitor water quality on the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers. A video produced by the project has been awarded first place among those submitted by similar projects within the NSF grant program. The video may be viewed by clicking here.

Athens High School has completed the restructuring process for semester grades. Your student should receive a new grade card in Homeroom on Tuesday, January 29. Beginning with the semester average, all future grades will be posted numerically. Doing so avoids the issue that occurred with the first run of the semester averages and GPAs. If you wish to see the numerical grade associated with your student's 1st or 2nd term, you can view that percentage through your Parent Portal account. Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we continue to learn the peculiarities of the new software package.
